Frequently Asked Questions

Are you accepting new clients?

My therapy caseload is currently full, but my availability can fluctuate, so you are welcome to periodically check in or ask to be added to my waitlist. I’m not able to predict exactly when I will have an opening. If you are looking for an OCD therapist, the International OCD Foundation maintains a directory of providers. I am also happy to offer referrals to other providers.

What are your hours?

I generally see clients between the hours of 10-4, Tuesday through Friday, by appointment.

Do you provide in-person visits?

I currently provide online sessions, also called virtual visits or telehealth, via a secure online video call. Online appointments can be beneficial for clients who are managing chronic health concerns and painful conditions where mobility may be impaired or coming into an office is an additional barrier. Many of my clients enjoy being able to attend their sessions from the comfort of their own homes, without the need to factor in travel time to their appointments. At this time I do not offer in-person visits.

Do you work with kids?

The focus of my practice is serving adult individuals. Children are often better served by in-person services that can include participation from caregivers, without the need to maintain focus and attention during a video meeting. I may consider working with older adolescents if my setting (solo practitioner providing services via telehealth) is appropriate for the needs of the individual adolescent.

How long are appointments and how long will I be in therapy?

Appointments are held for about 55 minutes, usually at a weekly cadence. Because consistency is important to the therapeutic process, I prefer to agree upon a recurring time to meet each week.

It is difficult to predict how long each individual may benefit from being in therapy as this depends on a number of variables, but I find that in-depth psychotherapy often takes several months to be effective. Many clients who find the therapeutic process to be beneficial and supportive, and who may be working through long-standing relational challenges or trauma, find that they benefit from a consistent therapeutic relationship that may continue for longer periods of time.

Do you offer ERP and I-CBT for OCD?

I am trained in ERP and I-CBT and I draw from both in my work. I regularly attend additional trainings and participate in consultation groups focused on the treatment of OCD and related concerns. I also adapt my treatment approach to each individual, and have a supportive and non-directive style as a therapist. If you would prefer a more structured and directive delivery of these modalities, I recommend searching the IOCDF directory linked above; or I would be happy to offer you referrals to other providers. You can read more about my approach to psychotherapy in these pages, and I welcome you to contact me if you would like to discuss whether my therapeutic approach and style might be a good fit for your needs and preferences.

What are your fees and do you take insurance?

My standard fee for a 55 minute session is $195. I reserve a few sliding-scale spaces in my practice for clients who cannot afford my full fee, and I welcome you to ask about this during your initial consultation before we agree to schedule an intake session. If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, and if you have out-of-network benefits, some portion of your costs for therapy may be reimbursed by your insurance carrier after you submit a claim to them with a superbill (an itemized receipt) that I can provide to you each month.

I am currently an in-network provider with Premera Blue Cross, Regence Blue Shield, and Aetna. I recommend that you call your insurance carrier to verify your coverage and whether or not I am in-network with your specific plan before scheduling your first session. If I am in-network with your plan, I will submit claims to your insurance on your behalf. Your cost-share, if you have one, will be due at the time of service. I collect payment via credit or debit card via a secure online client portal.
